Safety Match Stick

A safety matchstick is a type of match designed to ignite only when struck against a specially prepared surface, such as the striking surface on the side of a matchbox or matchbook. This safety feature prevents accidental ignition from friction or heat. The matchstick consists of a small wooden or paper stick coated with a mixture of chemicals, including potassium chlorate, sulfur, and fillers, which, when struck, create the heat necessary for combustion. The striking surface contains red phosphorus, which reacts with the chemicals on the match to start the flame. Safety matches are designed to be less hazardous compared to traditional matches, making them a safer option for everyday use
